CLASSES BEGIN THE WEEK OF 

JUNE 9, 2008

 

 

 

REGISTRATION:  BY MAIL ONLY -- USE FORM BELOW

Registration must be received prior to first class.

There will be no on-site registration!  

Checks or money orders ONLY.  No refunds will be issued after classes begin.  

All classes are six weeks in duration, except the mini course

 

 

NOTE:  All classes are held in the DCE Building located at 

4444 Leisure Time Drive in Diamondhead

 

All classes are non-credit.  

Our instructors are qualified, but not necessarily certified.  Tuitions are designed to cover insurance, utilities, 

telephone, maintenance, supplies, computer hardware/software, furniture and instructors' compensation.

COMPUTER CLASSES

 

All computer courses are limited to 8 students.    

 

Windows XP Fundamentals:  Learn to navigate throughout Windows; customize your personal needs; basics on the Internet; locate and  use programs.          Mrs. Denise Felter          FEE: $65      Monday 10:00 a.m. - Noon

 

Internet and Email:  Learn to use the Internet and send Emails with ease.  Learn web technology, navigating on the web and safety tips on browsing.  Includes methods to prevent viruses, spy ware, spam and identity theft.  Learn how to attach documents or pictures to email and much more.        Mrs. Denise Felter          FEE: $65       Monday 1-3 p.m.

 

Internet Safety and Security:  In one 4-hour class learn how to protect your PC and your identity from the dangers of the internet.  You will be given the Security Programs on CD's and you will learn to install and use them.  Shop safely and rid your PC of Malware and Spyware.     Mrs. Denise Felter          FEE: $30       Tuesday, June 10       9 a.m.-1 p.m. 

 

Introduction to Excel 2003:  Must have computer experience.  Learn the basic skills of working with spreadsheets that organize date, computer formulas and create charts.  Book fee of $15 first day of class.         Mrs. Denise Felter         FEE: $65       Thursday  6 -8 p.m.

 

Photo Restoration:  Learn to scan your old and slightly damaged photos and to restore them to very close to their original quality or perhaps even better than the original quality.         Mrs. Yvette Richard           FEE:  $65       Wednesday 10:00 a.m. - Noon.  

 

Digital Photography/Photo Editing I:   Learn to transfer photos from digital camera to computer for editing  (crop, rotate, lighten, darken, etc.)  enhancing and printing photos.           Mrs. Yvette Richard             FEE: $65       Wednesday 1 - 3 p.m.

 

Digital Scrap-booking/Photo Scanning:  Learn to scan your old 35mm photos to create a scrapbook.  Bring to class printed photos or CD with digital photos you plan to use in your scrapbook.       Mrs. Yvette Richard            FEE:  $65       Thursday 10:00 a.m. - Noon

 

Movie Making: Use your own photos to create video movie CD's to share with family and friends. Add your choice of music to movie, insert transitions between photos, add a title and scrolling credits, using Windows Movie Maker (Preinstalled on all computers).

Computer Housekeeping: Learn how to keep your computer running in tip-top shape; learn how to organize your pictures and documents and how to remove files and unnecessary software.            Mrs. Yvette Richard          FEE:  $65       Friday 10 a.m. - Noon

 

Word Processing: Must have computer experience and MS Word 2002 or 2003.  Learn new techniques to become proficient in word processing.  Create letters, envelopes, labels, stationery, flyers, brochures and address book to merge with letter and envelopes.

ART CLASSES 

 

Pastel Painting: Learn techniques of pastel painting.  Limited to 8 students. 

Mrs. Tricia McDonald.      FEE:  $60      Please note which time on application:  Monday 10:00-Noon or Monday 1 - 3 p.m.   

 

Watercolor for Beginners: This class is for beginners.  Basic watercolor techniques will be explored.  A painting will be made each class to bring home.  Participants need to bring the following supplies:  8 1/2" x 11" watercolor paper, watercolor paint; brushes; masking tame and water jars/bottle.         Mrs. Jill Krasny       FEE:  $35       Wednesday 6 - 7:30 p.m. 

 

 

YOGA AND BRIDGE CLASSES

 

These classes will meet twice a week for three weeks.

Classes begin June 9 and end June 26

 

Bridge: June 20 - Opening Bids and Responses; June 12 - No Trump and Stayman Responses; June 17 - No Trump and Transfers; 

June 19 - Bridge Weak 2's and Strong 2's; June 24 - Forcing Bids; June 26 - Slams.  All six classes - $40   or   $7 per individual class (designate which dates on registration form).         

Mrs. Janelle Kunellis, Certified ACBL Bridge Instructor        Tuesdays and Thursdays 10 - Noon

 

Yoga: Improve your physical, mental and spiritual well-being.  Achieve greater flexibility.  Access new levels of energy and power.  Concentration on abs.  (Please bring yoga mat and wear comfortable clothing.) Doing Yoga two times a week will improve flexibility, balance and increase your desire to add yoga into your daily exercise.  All six classes $30    or   $7 per lesson (designate which dates on registration form).         Mrs. Janelle Kunellis, Certified Yoga Instructor          Tuesdays and Thursdays  9 - 9:45 a.m.

 

 

DANCE/RECREATION CLASSES

 

 

Beginner's Ball Room Dancing:   Learn the Fox Trot, Swing, Cha-Cha and Rumba.    Limited to 20 students.   

Ms. Florence Parrish               Fee:  Couples - $50; Single - $35              Thursday  7:00 - 8:15 p.m.

 

Advanced Ballroom Dancing:  Limited to 20 students.

You will be notified ONLY if an insufficient number of students register for a class.  

Otherwise, please plan to attend the first meeting of the class(es) for which you have registered.
